Urban Civic Briefing

Write for us

We welcome pitches that help readers notice and understand a specific feature of urban civic design. Send proposals through the Contact page, with Write for Us selected as the reason for writing.

What fits

Strong ideas focus on one clear question about streets, civic buildings, wayfinding, amenities or materials. A pitch might compare two approaches, explain a design convention, trace an object or unpack a common assumption. Keep the scope focused enough to answer without relying on statistics, field testing or professional advice.

What to include

Tell us the working title, central point, likely examples and why the subject matters to a general reader. Note any sources or visual material you expect to use, and disclose relevant commercial interests. Please send a proposal rather than a finished article unless we have agreed otherwise.

How we work

We consider clarity, originality, accuracy and fit with the publication. A pitch is not a promise of publication, and we may suggest a narrower angle or edits. Do not send confidential material or assume a contribution will be commissioned until terms are agreed.

Our point of view

Design is part of public life

A place is easier to understand when its choices are visible. We look closely at form, use and the details between them.
